Hi... Need experts! I am taking a stab this is carved celluloid...but I am questioning the mounting and the warping. Any ideas? brooch.jpg brooch3.jpg

I agree, celluloid, and very cute.
I would leave it be, given the fragility of the material. Maybe someone else has a brilliant idea.

Age? Back of pin clasp is an early date (before 1880) I feel...did the two start life together, or is it married? Origin? any value?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It would be of interest to collectors of Scottie items. There seem to be a lot of them out there.

The pin clasp is exactly what I would expect on this type of brooch. No marriage. These brooches were not expensive, safety clasps were not thought necessary. Most had old-fashioned C-clasps.;)

I don't think there is anything you can do for the warping.

At some point it became overheated. Celluloid does not do well with heat.
