Featured Need Help Deciding On Miniature Portrait Brooch

I've found on ebay this interesting brooch, starting bid 49e. I can't decide if this is something special or a nothing burger, so I thought I'd bring it to the court for your verdict.

The pin is long but the stones are open backed, so earliest is probably 1870ish?
Grecian/ancient style of portrait
The setting almost looks like gold? Different color to the brooch itself, which is brass (right?)

But I can't decide if everything I've just said is right or not, I need some expert eyes on this one! Thank you all in advance as usual

Perhaps "Etruscan Revival", 1860s-1880s.

Oh it definitely could be pinchbeck! I always forget that's a thing. And agree re time period, thank you for the date! If I do purchase I'll definitely test everything. It looks like a nicely made piece but I can't decide if its something I want to spend lots of money on.

It's nice -- I like it, whether it's special, or "nothing."

 

I have a cameo set in a base metal with similar stones- I tested them, mine are white spinels.
