Need help identifying antique table

  1. hello, we just bought this table and wondered what it's used for, a sewing table maybe? Any information would be appreciated. We don't see any markings or stamps on it. image1.JPG DSC_0022.JPG

    Can you post a closer picture of what the top looks like when open? I think I see some kind of "shelf" attached to the lid, although it is unclear how that would hold anything in place. Does only the lower drawer open?

    I am not sure of the purpose with that tray configuration and rack in there. Doesn't really look like for sewing. Must have some specialty purpose. Wood is mahogany. Age is 40s or 50s I should think. Style is a mish-mash. Similar to Hepplewhite but the hardware is sort of Chippendale.
