    Poker work, box maybe for jewellery but could be for brush, mirror etc vanity set BA30CF4B-6E79-4AB9-8E0D-896C107CE7C3.jpeg

    Also called pyrography, or pyro-engraving - made with a heated tool. very popular in the Victorian period.

    These were not necessarily commercial.
    People bought the kits or patterns and did their own pyrography.
    Much like hobbyist china painting.

    Want to add
    Use the term pyrography - you should find plenty of examples.
