Need help identifying long strand of beads, seeds, shells?

Good day all, I have this long strand of beads I am believing to be African,. They are 8 feet long and came with this pouch I’m hoping I can get some information so I can research further. Is there a name for this, a purpose, what are the seeds and shells? Any information and opinions is appreciated. As always thank you in advance.

 

The small grey seeds are Job's Tears, Coix lacryma-jobi, and are native to Southeast Asia. I've seen them, and the rust-colored seeds, in necklaces from the South Pacific, as well, but don't recall the name of the others right now.

The bag and the beads look more like they originated in Asia, rather than Africa, but items have a way of traveling today, and may show up just about anywhere.

A web search for "seeds used in jewelry" will show up several sites which may be helpful.

 

I appreciate your information @Taupou as I didn't know what those small seeds were called and I have since educated myself on these and many more. I just can not find if the original maker of this strand was just collecting, selling or was this used in a cultural way. Not a lot of information on the history. Thank you
