I found two of these wheel-like structures buried just below the surface of my yard. They are metal, about 15" across. The rim is curved and there are little tubes attached to the wires. Not sure if they are actually old but my house is from the 1890s.
    Thanks!

I wonder if those tubes held some sort of flap ? Possibly they are fan intake covers?

Or a clothes line? That would make sense if they were found in a back yard.

No idea but some early motorcycles had an extra rim.

Pedal start Harley! There aren't too many of those left. Bet that one's restored. If it's a motorcycle wheel it's worth a few bucks, even as a wall hanger.

Need more photos, well-lit, various angles, some close-up, to see details of construction etc.

If they were in the front yard, maybe either side of the walkway, they were likely used as yard decoration and stood astride the walk with the plane of the wheels parallel to the walk. I've seen this particular yard decoration many times in suburban and rural areas.

Old wheel chair wheel rims is my best guess, there would have been rubber something like a rim around the outsides of them for your hands to move the thing, then another rubber/who knows rim around the inner wheel would have been a slightly larger diameter. Nice find! What makes me think this is not so, are the balancers (?) on some of the spokes, pretty odd imho. This could be part of a much larger machine type thing that ran fairly fast (ergo balancing needed), maybe belt driven stuff. Could just be an old wheel that is missing some stuff, even off an old band saw kinda thing. Dunno *shrugz* but that is very cool!
