I ran across this chair today and am trying to get some information on it regarding era, type of wood, value.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. [IMG]

I'm not a 'furny', just someone who appreciates a good comfortable chair & this looks like one. Guessing wood is mahogany.

Is that chair on the Equator?

Trying to find the right descriptors. 'Channel back' seems to be one.

Thank you, Aaron. So where are the 'furny's'?

Probably resting in their armchairs - if they're anything like this one - who can blame them?

That one is incredibly beautiful. Way to go finding it.

What do you think the one I found would be worth?

Wouldn't mind being a member of any club with such chairs, as long as cigar smoke doesn't come with them. Wonder what the original upholstery was like.

I'm not a furniture appraiser, I just play one on antiquers.com. The leather covered one sold for $1,750 + freight 3 years ago. Let's say yours might have sold for $1,000 then. Question is what has happened to the market for such chairs since, up or down? I can only advise watching auctions of all types for anything similar to see how they do.

Well if I manage to score it today, ill let you know I picked it up for. Heading out now to purchase it. It doesn't smell like cigars either... I think I found my perfect bourbon chair.
