    14k gold fleur-de-lis 1” in length. Anyone know this maker’s mark? Thanks for your help!

    It's a watch pin, you would hang a watch from the hook. Sometimes when I have a nice one like this I hang a pearl from it as a selling point since not many people would have a watch to hang from it :)

    no wonder that the compagnon Lebkuecher was probably identical with the mayor of Newark that was born in Baden near the French boarder. Lebkuecher = gingerbreadmaker

    I get the connection of the name now, but still don't understand the "no wonder" part. Seems to be an insult to the maker which makes no sense to me.

    Julius Lebkuecher, Krementz cousin and co-founder, would guess same family as Lebkuecher & Co. - no idea what the weird comment meant...

    Eh, more weirdness, along with only slightly veiled insult...

    There is a lengthy page and a half history of the company in 'The Glitter & The Gold' book, this excerpt includes information on Julian Lebkuecher:
