Need help in UK Patent Office

Does anyone have one of those subscriptions with the UK Patent Office so they can search the data base? Tried to do it myself but looks like not just anybody can do it.

What I need are copies of the patent granted to one J.B. Rogers for his life saving apparatus” ca. 1870-1875. Here’s a drawing of it, I think from “Scientific American.” I particularly need the drawings from the Patent, most importantly a drawing of the small cannon that was part of the apparatus. I don’t have a patent number.

I should’ve checked the proper name for that office-maybe that explains the lack of response. And, bumpity-bump bump while we’re at it!
