Hello I found this Framed antique clothes signed Genald Ritenour 1911.

I wonder if you could tell me some background on it? I couldn't find anything directly to a designer in 1911. cl1.JPG cl2.JPG cl3.JPG cl31.JPG cl5.JPG

It looks like a child's costume.

Before determining value, it would be helpful to know what it is. Would it fit a child?

It is from a local estate sale review photo. No I have not bought it or checked it in person yet. So I can not tell the back.

So no additional photographs and the estate sale isn't providing any additional information. Can you tell us at least if... Is it from a part of the world that might have had plays/pageants that portrayed Native Americans in 1911?

Could be Gerald Ritenour of DuPage County then. Birth date right. To my eye, doesn't look like a genuine article of Native American clothing. And doesn't look, again to my eye, to date to 1911. But someone valued it enough to frame it.

It does look like it might be a child's costume (depending on size). The materials are not typical of Native American clothing (machine stitched white denim, metal eyelets, commercial boot lace).

Did he die young? Maybe this had sentimental value to his family.

Could be replacements, there is wear on the red cloth.

No. He was around in a much later census.

As it does not look like traditional Native American work, I would not expect it to have much value unless you can prove that Gerald Ritenour was of some significance.

It does appear to be a family item of sentimental value.
