I had this brooch for at last 10 years and I want to sell it and some other stuff because I have too many things. So I am asking you again to help me identify this brooch so I can put an accurate description in my listing. The dimensions are approx. 2 X 1 1/4 inches. Possibly gold around the ivory part. Yes, I know it needs a good cleaning!lol IMG_1900.JPG IMG_1901.JPG IMG_1902.JPG . Thanks in advance!

It looks as if someone has added the top part onto it to make it more decorative. To my eye, it looks as if it did not start out life together.

It looks like some sort of doublet, like @popsycat said

Yes it is very possible! I see some glue between the two parts! Thank you!

Here it is! I would have to remove the glue on the ivory! It is gold in fact and the loop in the back is marked France.

You need to research to see if you can sell it, in many places it's against the law to sell ivory.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I still think it's a very pretty combination! Can you test for what looks like gold?

It was vermeil (gold on silver). Have a nice day!

    This looks sterling.
What does the back look like?

That might be a piece of dragon's breath glass. The setting on the ivory might be gold-filled instead of straight-up gold; I'd check before selling. It was probably meant to be a hand-painted piece that never was.

As for the ivory, it's not sellable where I live, at least not on the official market. They aren't cracking down on antique dealers selling it, but you can't put it on line or in an auction.
