hi everyone. i bought this yesterday in a thrift store. it had just hit the floor. i think it's a very cool old photograph of a championship baseball team from 1906. The picture itself, minus the backing board measures approximately 13.25"x16.25". what i would like to figure out is, what type of photograph it is. is it gelatin silver or is it albumen? is it something else? antique photographs are definitely no my area of expertise. i bought this for resale and any tips, or suggestions as to what research might improve its value on the market or, for that matter, where the best place to sell it, would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

The surface of your photo appears to have some "silvering" around the edges, where there is a silvery sheen on the surface. This is a common type of deterioration that is typical of silver-based prints of the early 20th century.

Albumen prints went out of favor in the mid 1890s, so it's unlikely to used for a photo print in the 20th century.

There is more than one silver-based type of print. If it is important to you to know the exact type, you could look at this list from the Graphics Atlas: http://www.graphicsatlas.org/identification/

Under Photographic section you can find out the qualities of all sort of photographic prints. You can click on each one to find details about the qualities of the prints, and also a range of years when each one was in use. Some of the names do not have the word "silver" yet were silver based. Matte Collodion is one of those.
