Have this modernist gold on silver ring which im researching but without success. It has london import marks and the letter code date it back to 1963. Looked on the net to do some research on the makers marks but can not it. I thought its maybe Scandinavian?

The makers mark looks like the letters AD to me?
Does somebody here have the reference books?

Any info or input is welcome.

I don't think this is old; those silver marks look more 1990 than 1970. I'm thinking this is a Chinese ring that was assayed for sale elsewhere.

The photo isn't very clear, but I was thinking it looked more like a 1991 "R"...

Could be. But definitely not 1963.

But, again, it could be that 1982 H...

Has to be a decent maker and sponsor. It costs money to get import marks - cheaper import silver here relies on just a .925.

My Jacksons and Bradburys suggest that's a London 1982 H, and I concur. AD may be the sponsor, rather than the maker - what's that squiggle? Looks like a fish or a dolphin?

Thx all for the input and pointing out my error. Yes i made a mistake. It has the letter H which dates it back to 1982.

Yes it is the letter H which dates it to 1982.

Did designers had sponsors?? Never knew that. I thoight the letters are always the makers marks

I dont know what this ring suppose to be. Could be anything if you have a good imagination/fantasy.

The letters are the person or company who applied for the assay. That can be the maker, but it can also be a retailer or company of some sort. In the case of an import mark, then you get what's called a sponsor: again, the organisation which applied for the assay, so typically the importer. That will have nothing to do with who made it.
