Have a pair of paintings which some aging and think they are traditional Chinese or Japanese? They probably were scroll paintings and sit now framed behind glass. Looks like they were framed in the 1950s. Need help with the text, seal and age if possible. They are believed to be painted on silk or other material? The material painted on looks handmade and not machinery. Not sure if both of them are from the same artist, but I think it's a pair because of the similair birds maybe male and female and it tells a story. Not sure when these were created but they are old that's for sure. Are they from the 1800's or earlier? Asian antiques were never my interest so limited knowledge here. All info/input is welcome.

    Thank you

Sorry for the pics but it's very darkly aged and difficult to photograph. Is it on silk? The more I look at it the older it looks to me because of the aging and the hand woven material. Could it be much older than 1800s?

As far as I know, there's no artist who drawed any painting on silk before 1950.
Most "vintage" or "antique" (so called) silk paintings are made after 1970s in Japan and 1990s in China.

Thank you Asian fever but what do you mean with there no artist that draw paintings on silk before 1950?? This was the common practice before paper. Maybe it's me but I don't get it :).

:) a bit to much for the early morning.
I had to improvise, it was unreadable . This method helped me out many times and made me find signatures and see things in painting which I couldn't see before.

Correction. Sorry I had a better look and looks like it's painted on paper mixed/interwoven with silk fibre.
