Need help with vase

    Hi, I am hoping someone can give me some ideas about this vase. What is the glaze on it called? It's rather unusual, at least to me. It has a large capital A marked on the bottom that does not show well in the pictures but does show in the right light. There is also KS or K5 etched on the bottom. It stands around 5" tall and is around 4.5" in diameter across the top. Thanks in advance for any help.

    It reminds me of the German lava and foam glazes.

    My less than meager research skills and general knowledge had me thinking Japanese, but I think the lava is a good bet. Thanks all.
