New Haven Schoolhouse clock type of wood?

    Hi all and happy Saturday.
    I got this from my favorite thrift this morning for a song.
    Pendulum and key were inside.
    They said it didn't work so for 20 i brought it home, dusted it off, hung it up and it seems to work perfectly.
    Patent date June 13 1871
    I think it is veneer but not sure of the type of wood.

    Sort of tough to tell. Many of these were mahogany or walnut. Often one has to know wood grain to tell for sure since stain was sometimes applied. Nice clock -

    Looks like mahogany to me.
