    hi guys

bought a new miniature today, thought id share and get some info along the way

since taking photos ive noticed a clean slit along the bottom that i never saw before, framing accident ? shame, but price was good

would be nice to know the age on this one, looks more like the georgian ones that ive seen

    looks like a gouache ?

the earrings are monstrously large, but good for a £1 ! stink of it

    1950s ?

    any thoughts appreciated

darn it deb, your right as well, just tested them, i swore i could smell bakelite, i think ive associated the smell of bakelite with a womans fragrance smell:banghead::)

    Rimmed with metal or plastic?

    Metal, silver plated

But 80s makes sense now I know they aren't bakelite

    Thanks buddy

Will have a look inside tomorrow, hopefully might be a date inside as well

I wonder if that would explain the join, if it was pieced together

Can't see how anyone would cut it like that

It's possible the painting came before the frame and the artist decided to expand the painting to fit the frame.

Clever clever, never thought of that, it does look like an extension piece

    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

Ivory for sure, the "join" is a crack in the very thin plaque. Don't open it! It seems to still have remnants of sealing paper on the back... I feel your charming little girl was painted during first third of 19th century, @Debora is better than me in dating fashion of the past :)

Brilliant thanks krya, I'll play on the safer side and leave be

The Georgian ones always seem a bit more naive and charming, and slightly out of proportion, which I like more

High waist, open neck, small puffed sleeves. Agree with date. A charming find.

The miniature is a beauty, charlie. Great find.
Agree.:) And the frame looks of the same period, all good, so don't open it.:nailbiting:

    thanks AJ :)

sound advice there from you and kyra, i shall leave it be.

this was another little frame i got thrown in with it yesterday, do you reckon later ?

i thought it was a hallmark when i saw it today, but not, stamped moseley,

    brass ?

more of a pendant i think than a frame

    really nice little thing

It is lovely, but it looks much later to me, maybe early 20th century? Could you show the back?

    Edit:
You probably showed the back, but I am having problems with my computer.:(
