    I just purchased this older rocking chair. I bought because it was comfy but I also like the design. I do not know anything about it and I would appreciate any information or comments. Thank you very much!

    Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    So, might this date back to the time when women wore hoops under their skirts? That's 1860s, isn't it?

    I am not sure...I forgot to ask about the age, because I do not know the age.

    Thanks -- I thought maybe the others who commented might have opinions, since I never heard of that type of armrest....

    Sorry I didn't get back right away. I was in New York City for a week to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I recognized the arm style because I had run across one years ago and was told that this arm style was made so women in hoop skirts could sit down. You really need a furniture expert likes James Conrad or verybrad to answer whether this is an original or a reproduction.

    Darryl. You need James Conrad or verybrad to give you an opinion about age.

    @James Conrad and @verybrad

    Kiko, if you put the @ symbol in front of a user ID it will tag the person. Depending on whether they have notifications turned on or off, they will get a message.

    Forgot to mention that after you put in the @ symbol and start typing the user name a list will pop down of users who match. Pick the right one off of the list. The tag will not show up until after you submit the post.

    Yeah, pretty much, a quick google says introduced in USA in 1846 but hey day was 1860s, civil war era, "gone with the wind" and all that!
