I have an old chair that my wife came up with at an estate sale. She is getting it reapolstered and I was going to try to clean the wood up for her. But I don’t want to screw it up. Can anyone tell me what product I should use to clean it, should I wax it, oil it I just don’t know and don want to screw it up
    Thanks

When you say clean it up - do you mean dirty? Or are there scratches? Are they deep or superficial? Is the finish worn off in places? What type of wood? More information including pictures would help. https://www.antiquers.com/threads/posting-a-thread-and-uploading-pictures.15990/
Or if you are taking them by cell phone, you can email them to yourself using size medium when it asks. By the way, welcome. I'm glad to see this is a partnership project that you both can enjoy taking part in and revel in the outcome.

Would do the wood before reupholstering so you don't get refinishing products on new upholstery.
