hello all, I was going through my moms attic and found some cool stuff she said my grandpop had from his house. We don't know any history on it, or how to tell what its made of or what century its from? Here is a pic and any info on how to tell things would be great.

Welcome, If you could show the base of the silver dish, pots etc it would help in identification. Others more knowledgeable will be along to help.

This is what I researched so far:

Broadhead & co Sheffield 19th century English tea pot
Athens Sage candle holder w gold trim from India 7"
Web pewter compote, 4 5/8 tall & 6" diameter if top, vintage from 1970s
Tri serving tray - folds up -
Reed& Barton urn - Piping rock kennel club

I cant find anything on the first pic, they all look homemade, no marks, no dates, and in fine condition, no cracks or anything

My first thought about the copper bits was "gunpowder", but I'm probably all wrong.

The "urn" appears to have been "married" to an unrelated lid.

I love the far left container with the wavey handle. Is it bronze or brass? Can you tell? It looks really heavy and different from the rest of the lovely pails.

they are all heavy, how can you tell the difference between bronze and brass?

    Hi Lisa,
Brass has a more lighter, yellowish colour and is slightly magnetic. Bronze is a darker reddish brown, but ages to a green/brown and to me seems heavier that expected when I pick something up. I'm no expert here and I am sure someone will come along and provide better details.

    Hi Lisa,
I had another look at the photos and perhaps the pail is copper like the other pieces. It just might be the way the photo seems. Sorry if I have confused you.
