Acquired this guy yesterday from a store closing sale.
    It stands about 5' tall.

Ive had a couple different dates thrown at me from the 1830s/40 all the way to the 1880s
Can anyone throw a accurate date at me?

Were these orginally used as bookcases or china cabinets?

Its missing its lock which will need replacing so the doors stay shut. Whats the best way to fit a lock?

My grandmother had a larger one of those which she used for china; now my brother uses it. For china.

Id say 1880s. Im certain you can find a lock online, just measure it and search away.Restoration Hardware or the like will have one.

Could be as early as 1880 but I am thinking a decade or two later. Most likely a bookcase if depth is under 12"

Yeah, agrees, I'll guess 1900. A bit of empire revival with the feet & columns.
