Newly aquired asian teapot

anyone have any ideas? 6 inches long and little over 4 wide 3 1/2 tall

 

Start searching Yixing. Probably not old but I'm not an expert by any means.

 

When i was in China, we spent hours in an open air market, when compressed tea in boxes was sold for $10,000 or more a kilogram. It all tasted awful in my estimation, but the reason I bring this up there were also these small "designer" teapots selling for hundreds of dollars. Your piece reminds of one of these Take your time in researching this. I have no idea if this is one of these kind of pieces, but you never know.

 

@mdlock Going to echo Kiko on this. Do your research. Find someone who can read the mark and go from there. Might be nothing, might be something. But that mark is your clue.

I agree this is newer, but these Yixing teapots don't have to be old to have value. It just comes down to whether it is a sought after maker.

I had one of my best sales a few years ago -- a Yixing teapot from 1998, sold for $2,400. (And with a broken lid!)

Just going to say that there is a lot of 'everyday' mega home store/teavana type yixing pots around nowadays, so most of the ones you find in the wild aren't worth much.
