Any information is appreciated. I looked up the number and it is not the pattern. TIA! IMG_1223.JPG IMG_1224.JPG

I hate to differ with you, but believe the number is the pattern number, 4986. Part of the 4 is rub out. This pattern is referred to as 4986 or sometimes N 4986. Following is a link to 4986 on the replacements.com website. There are at least 2 patterns with this same design but in different colors, 4986 and 4989. THere were probably more like 4987 and 4988, but replacements hasn't seen examples of them yet.

Here is page with the 2 patterns listed. Clicking the thumbnails opens to the patterns:

BTW, this Noritake "M" backstamp with the ribbon/bow at the bottom was used between 1933 and 1953, but with only "Made in Japan" means it was made before WWII. After WWII it would have said "Made in Occupied Japan."

    "1933 "M"
    EXPORT MAINLY FOR USA MARKET
    Registered 1933
    (Variety of Patterns)"

Click "1930's" and then scroll down the 2nd column to see this "M" mark. The wreath on this mark differs from the others because of the ribbon/bow across the bottom

#858 on the following webpage of Noritake marks shows the same mark when it was used during the Occupation of Japan.
