I am fully prepared to have y'all tell me this can be dated to anywhere up to last week, but I thought I'd post it for my own curiosity just in case someone knows. I bought it for a few bucks at the thrift because I liked the very rough handmade construction and planned on keeping it for the decor look so it's fine if it's contemporary. :D

If you spin it through Lens everyone is in agreement it's Northern Chinese (Zibo in particular was floated), but there's just one person who thinks they've got similar that is genuinely antique and all the other antique/vintage decor outfits just say theirs are "antique" or "vintage" sourced from China. Of course, there can be copies of anything as well so... :wacky: 9" x 9.25" (22.86 x 23.5 cm)

    Very nice rustic pot, mirana.
All I know is that they have been making ceramics in Zibo for centuries and still are, but you probably knew that already.:(
Or simply an ongoing tradition, as so often in Asia.;)

I don't care how old or new it is -- that's just a gorgeous thick glaze and I love the decoration pattern. I don't know why, but these things get me as much as some fine porcelain!

Yeah no surprise Zibo has a specialized and ancient tradition in it. I love the endurance of a local craft. "Copy" I was using to cover any sort of duplication of an older design.

The experts here surprise me in their niche knowledge all the time so can't hurt to bring it to the community. I'll enjoy it all the same. But if it's actually old, maybe I won't display it on the floor hahaaaa. :D

Yes! Thank you! I love a graceful piece. A colorful one. But oooh a rough piece hits in a different way. Utilitarian. The clay dug out with fingers and thumbprint in the glaze. I can enjoy humanity's most delicate and most hardy works. :joyful:

You can put it on a Chinese stand or some sort of plinth so you don't accidentally kick it or nick it with the vacuum cleaner.:nailbiting:;)

My home is mostly hardwood so no issue with the vacuum. It's on a cabinet now, but I do enjoy the look of large pottery on the ground in out of the way nooks and corners. :D
