Was abandoned in a warehouse by a former tenant; landlord offered to me at a great price. Weighs a bit over 1 ton. Aka “ finger brake.” I’m hiring a rollback flatbed wrecker to pick up this and other misc stuff from the nearby location.

Two tools from an estate sale, grey is a surface grinder and green is a 150-ton hydraulic press. I moved several truckloads of smaller items earlier in my own small truck but these weigh about two tons each, so I hired a rollback wrecker aka flatbed.

shouldn't the heavier items always go up front...?

In a u-haul trailer, yes, or it’ll wanna fishtail onya. But this was a flatbed wrecker that can probably deal with varied loads. The driver had years of experience so I’m guessing he loaded it safely. The two skids were about equal weight, we guessed about two tons each.

Grey one is typical machine tool, a cast shell with various shafts and gears inside. Green one has some blocks of forged steel and solid steel columns, and a cylinder. Volume you see on grey one mostly air; green one mostly solid steel.

I moved the green “box and pan brake” over the weekend; was a bit of an adventure into the unknown. I put the moving story and a few photos at link below. Now I want to put the brake on an oak pallet I had which is just the right size, so I can move it around the building easily. I’m talking to the maker, Dries & Crump in Chicago, regarding what lift points to use. I always want to know the maker’s recommended lift points since these heavy machines can be damaged if lifted incorrectly.
