Hello everyone!
Does anyone know how old this is? Is it a blotter or does it have a different name? x
It's 20 cms (almost 8 inches) by 15 cms (almost six inches)
Is that a Maltese Cross on the front?

 

Red and white are also Maltese colours, but the Maltese cross is based on the Amalfi cross from Italy. Italy is also a leathercraft country, so maybe that is a direction to look.

It's simply a notebook cover. I have one given to me in the 1960s. Mine is red tooled leather and came from Bavaria.

However, these were widely made and sold in Spain as tourist pieces and yours looks typical of those. The shape is that similar to a Spanish cross and the colours are Knights Templar, but also related to Catholicism.

That cross is famliar, and I think may be a Spanish city crest. I need to go check, but it might be Cordoba, which is full of leather makers, or maybe Toledo. Or somewhere else which I am totally misremembering.
