The material is a common gourd I don't have the name right now. There are a lot of similar tribal masks done with this material. I only saw one however with the type of open mouth expression.

    They were not from Tortola.

It is about 7 inches high by 5.5 inches wide.

Any information on this possibly being just a one-off design?

I suspect your mask is a tourist craft. It looks like it is made from the fruit of the calabash tree, Crescentia cujete, which grows throughout the Caribbean and other tropical places in the Americas.

The National Cultural Foundation of Barbados (NCF) has a series of 3 videos about the history, lore and use of the calabash on Barbados and the wider Caribbean. I didn't get a chance to watch them all but they might be of interest, with some relevant information.
