Featured Odd little pins

Any ideas on these please? Voodoo pins were considered and ruled out
Made of steel or iron? . Very magnetic to each other and to everything else! They keep sticking together.
They look like the Victorian type that had black glass on one side but no sign of gems if they did.
They are too short to be hat or hair pins I think. They are only just bigger than large dress making pins and very sharp. Approx 4cm.
So just pins or pins with a purpose?

Antimacassar pins? For upholstery of some sort? I doubt they were for clothing.

 

I like evelyb's thought & don't have a better one, but this business of their being magnetic is just so very odd. Did they start that way intentionally? Or did they become that way by contact with a magnet while in use?
