    Sure it's "N.E." and not "N.R."?

    I think N.R.

Very nice, charlie, very inviting. Looks like it could have been made by a commercial artist, it has that 50s holiday poster look.

This is everything I know about the only "NR" Brimecombe I could find.

Random, but there's a bit that makes me think he's your guy...

Norman Richard Brimecombe born Jul 18 1922 in Medway, Kent (mother's maiden name listed as "Brimblecome")

Married Irene Eales in Apr 1949 Chatham, Kent

Went to Singapore in 1955. Wife and two children (Christine (b. 1952) and Graeme (b. 1955)) were along for the trip. Passenger list has his job as "Civil Servant."

Returned to England (from Singapore) in 1958 (wife and two children are with him)

Thanks for the info jivvy, it does seem to ring true, so maybe Singapore might be the location, I can't see why not

    ohhh...that one's nice too !!
    I'd say , more somber......at low tide.
    I like the work !!

I like the second one as well. He may not have been a professional, but he certainly knew how to handle a brush and the result is great.
The light is northern European, so are the clothing and skintone of the people, so I think England. The sails in the first one look like wherry sails.
He could have painted them before he went to Singapore, to remind him of home.

Might I suggest one of these to cover the other one?

I was thinking the same thing, it will save me from walking around markets with one hand covering the dopey one

I am in studying disagreement about the sails in the first picture, but since we don't even know who Brimecombe really is, hard to make too much of a fuss. :bucktooth:

Edit: Though I hadn't looked beyond the sails to the boats...

Think I'd describe him as a Sunday painter. Doesn't look much like Singapore. He could have been in the UK on leave. Irene died in Portchester near Portsmouth. Perhaps the family had ties in that area.

I feel the need to repeat, this is "an" NR Brimecombe, not necessarily "the."

There are a fair number of Brimecombes in the world. :chicken:
