Another one of those things that was just waiting for me at the thrift tonight - In the middle of a stack of home goods type decorative art. The visible area is 19 1/2" x 13" - can't find a signature but haven't pulled it out of the frame yet. It's done on old canvas board.

I know this is a typical rolling hills countryside - but - any ideas where this scene might be? I figure it can't be much older than about 1900 being on canvas board - and could be as new as mid 20th - although i don't think newer than that. I'm kind of smitten with it :)

    Thanks for looking!

I like this one. Board suggests 50s-60s so not as old as the frame.

Board has been cut down to fit the frame. Would be a shame if a signature was lost in the process.

way too much sky to be a factory work !! :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It has a serene feel, but also lively in a way. Yes, it would be hard to determine the location that was painted.

Agree, it could be anywhere. I like it, and being Dutch I always like to see a lot of sky.:)

It's not bad. I agree the frame is older than the painting. Most likely a Sunday painter. I see some inconsistencies on it. Not a bad painting though.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this. Overall I agree probably an amateur artist, but I do very much enjoy how it looks in person. I took it out of the frame and still could not find a signature, but that doesn't bother me, this one will stay somewhere in my home :)

Amateur paintings can be very attractive if they convey a feeling, a nice atmosphere. This one does that.:)
