Hi again everyone. This is the other similar painting that I mentioned in the last thread so Any Jewelry this one might be for you.
Oil painted on wood, the painting is 30cm long by 22cm wide, as the other one it also has bevelled edges but much cruder. The painting is unsigned, needs a really good clean and has some damage as you can see from the photos. I think it was painted in c1900's (but unsure) and I feel it has a Francisco Goya feel to it, I also only paid $30 for it, what a bargain.
    Thoughts anyone?
Thank you everyone for your time and look forward to your feedback.

This is tickling my memory, possibly a copy of a self portrait by Van Gogh,or someone of that ilk. It looks very familiar, sorry I cant recall exactly who but thats aging for you.

not van Gogh, who was a redhead...not Goya either, although he painted himself sometimes with a similar tormented facial expression, cezanne, manet and monet had wild beards but were not as gloomy... Not Gauguin either, he mostly just had moustache, I don't know, just listing off famous 19th century painters here... ;)

None of the above were chubby, except for Goya, who didn't have a beard and moustache. Goya:

Although the head of the sitter is turned, the eyes aren't looking at the painter, so possibly not a self portrait.
    He reminds me of Moussorgski:

    Doesn't seem chubby to me.

Stylistically, I think this looks more mid-century, post WWII, than turn of the century.
