i have an old Austrian bronze medal in my possession. It has the Austrian emblem on one side and INNSBRUCK on the other side. About the size of a £2 coin. This item was found underground in the late 70's. I'm aware of the Innsbruck winter olmypics but I can't seem to find any medals that match this. Any medal buffs know any more? Or any other info is appreciated thank you!

    How big is this piece?

Possibly a commemorative charm from the Innsbruck Olympics.

It was found by my grandad under cobbles he was removing in the late 70s. It was underground but I'm not sure how long. I've researched medals from the olympics as early as 1936 and nothing comes up so I'm positive it has antique status

Hey! It's about as big as a £2 coin :) I've researched a bit on the Innsbruck Winter Olympics and other games as said but couldn't find anything. Thanks for the advice tho!

I haven't had any luck on IDing this medal. I also could not find any Innsbtruck Olympic's medal like this. Just about all the Innsbruck Olympics medals have the 5 circles on it somewhere. The red eagle is not the coat-of-arms of Innsbruck. It is the coat-of-arms of the state of Tyrol of which Innsbruck is the capital. Innsbruck has a completely different coat-of-arms. Googling found this symbol displayed at an array of Tyrolean area events such as shooting, musical, etc... Wonder if it was a prize at one of these events?

An example: A shooting event of the Tiroler Kaiserjägerbund located in Innsbruck.

For those of us who are not in the UK - please tell us dimensional measures. We've never seen a 2 pound coin. ;)

Thank you everyone for your comments! It does look somewhat similar to that of some of the tourist medallions but again I couldn't find any that greatly resemble this one either in size or design. This piece came in a box of lots of very old Masonic free mason memorabilia so I thought I would ask as it seems out of place lol. If I find anymore info I'll update all :) many thanks!

Since it has no other insignia, I would agree that a general souvenir item. Here's something similar (although no information re size.) Etsy seller referred to it as a "pendant," by way, which is a more accurate description.

Thank you Debra that's good to know much appreciated ! :) I'm not interested in selling or looking for prices or anything it's part of family history. I was just intrigued to know more as like I said, it was in our case of very old Freemason items and didn't seem to fit. Komokowa keep your wager lol.
