I've never been one to buy cast iron items (surely missed out on a few over the years) but learned that some can really sell for $$, so took a chance on this at .99 at GW just to educate myself.

Would I call this a burner cover? Approx 8" across. If it winds up being something I could sell, can anyone offer some keywords, thanks!

It is a cover plate for the top of a wood burning stove. Not sure how much demand there is for these.

When I checked out with this at the GW counter, it was kind of funny. Had a nice Edith Heath ceramic piece, one other thing and this. The clerk got loudly excited... about how some of these cast iron pieces are "VERY VALUABLE" (of course I always like to keep a low profile, so these loud exclamations were ruffling my feathers...) This got the attention of the district manager who was walking by. A total kill joy, never smiling (putting almost everything on E commerce) and she looked over and gave my purchases the evil eye.

Then someone said it was a frisbee, lol! I tried to go with that, lightening the mood. No, I'm not someone who buys underpriced things. A frisbee, yes!

Moments later one of the sub-managers, a really sweet guy, said it was for heating up tortillas. That his mom uses one similar.

If a stove cover, does the numbering give me any info? Is the "8" for 8 inches, possibly? Also "7S" or "SL"?

lol, I wouldn't want to be the one catching that 'frisbee':)
I would think the 8 is for 8 inches.
can I use your photo to ask on a cast iron group, someone might know the company, the 8 looks familiar but not sure who used it.

What cast iron sells for a lot of money? The kitchenware (pots pans muffins) seems pretty dead to me, am I missing something?

Go on to Ebay and type in "cast iron skillet", for example, then go under "sold" and order from highest to lowest.

You absolutely need to know what you are doing, a lot doesn't have much value, but some of these $1K ones I would have probably passed on over the years.

This is the top side, the "8" side faces down toward the wood.
The slot is for the lifter

Corn tortillas are smaller or maybe he meant homemade ones?? I'll ask the guy next time. :)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Tortilla warmer would be better than frisbee, in this case!
