Old Baseball 2 Opinions Better Thread

2nd ball I have is also American League. Not sure of age or signatures being old or just not right. Written is Pitched by Cincinnati Reds April 10, 1937. Thing is, the seasons 1st game was 10 days later. Has signatures, some of which are faded and worn.

 

This baseball has a faded stamp Official National League Ford C. Frick Pres Frick was president from 1934-1951. At least I have this dated.

 

As we said in our previous reply at your other baseball post, the experts on vintage baseballs over at Net54baseball would have much better insights on both baseballs than we could provide.
You are correct that the 1937 National League season didn't start until April 19th, and Cincy's first game was the 20th, so that's a bit of a mystery. As is the "Johnny Rample (Romple?)" name -- an Al Romple played low-level minor-league ball through the 1940s, but there's no apparent connection to Cincinnati. It has to be significant in some small way that the name "Reid" appears on both balls, probably only in that some boy named Reid owned them at some time.

 

It's not our site (although we're regulars over there), but sure, we'd recommend it. Our own area of "baseball expertise" is extremely narrow and niche, so on the rare occasions that questions about baseball memorabilia show up here, we usually wind up referring someone to Net54...
