Hi everyone, I picked up this old chair at an auction, nobody was bidding on it, so I jokingly offered £5, everyone laughed, but not as much as me when I won.

I bought it because I liked it, not because it was a fiver, and it fills a corner in a room, but out of interest, does anyone recognise it, am I sitting on a £5 chair well worth its money or is it an antique that needs swapping for a lovely new comfy sofa :) It has had a bit of work done on it as you can see from the pictures of the underside.

I think early 20th century with secessionist influence.

I agree, Secessionist style, could even be genuine Secessionist (Vienna, Austria).
A great chair, but nothing Georgian about it.

Made for someone who eats a lot of Kaiserschmarrn.

That looks so tasty! I can feel my chair getting smaller just looking at it. :nailbiting:

Tastes good too, I used to eat that a lot when I was in Vienna.:) It is best with that apricot sauce.

I adore that stuff. We had an Austrian Jewish restaurant close by for many years. They did it with a blackcurrant sauce. The best schnitzel too. Spinach done with cream and nutmeg.

Oh and I think the chair is late 19th, well worth a fiver.
