Old heavy Sears tool

    I think this was my Dad's tool, anyone know what it was used for ?

    It is a grinding wheel dresser. The “blades” in it are sacrificial and easily replaceable. I use one when our bench grinder’s wheel isn’t fairly flat on the edge anymore. Grinding wheels that need to be more precise are often dressed with diamond-tipped steel or carbide points. You dress a wheel by holding the sacrificial dresser on it while it is turning at its normal operating speed.
