This is an old long iron or steel tapered rod or pin I got at the TS.

The iron or steel rod measures about 17 1/2" long and the top is about 1 1/2" in diameter and it weighs about 2 pounds 4 ounces.

Does anyone know what it was used for, how old it is or anything else about it? Thanks in advance for any info.

Marlinspike, used them a lot when I was rigging my sailboat.

Used for rope work, although the ones I used were usually made of Lignum Vitae.
