Old looking copper cup thing

    It could have been a holder for a tea glass.

    Billy, I agree with Bakers - either for a tea glass or for a little coffee can - a plain cup with no handle.

    I wonder if it was ever silver plated? Many of them were.

    From the pictures I would say it is brass rather than copper.

    Had to look it up. See you use it with a fincan. Strikes me as a useful word in expressions such as What the zarf?!
