I'm helping my neighbor with this Seth Thomas but I don't see any model or registration numbers. I found some online and the listings identify them by a model number. I have not found this exact clock. Is there a hidden number that I'm not seeing? Age? Is this a mercury pendulum? Thank you!

Any numbers on the underside of the base? I had a similar ST model that had the model # there.

I'm not sure I'm seeing the difference between the two. Is it the top?

My previous post disappeared. I thought the first one you posted looked just like it.

No one is likely to be collecting these by model, just call it a Seth Thomas crystal regulator. The pendulum looks like a mock mercury one, just painted inside the glass, but it's very easy to tell, tilt it and see if the 'mercury' moves.

These US made four glass clocks were about half the price or less of the French equivalents at the time so they were far more common than French examples in America.

It is a mantel clock, not a clock designed to be worn around the shoulders like a mantle. It dates from around 1900.

:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: Thank you for correcting my spelling. :p It does make a difference.
Thanks for the tip on the mercury. It definitely is a mock.

I think the face of the 301 is the closer of the two.

Mantle clock is one of my pet hates along with pear cased watch and three drawer telescope, in auction catalogues.

lol. Pear cased watches... Everyone knows they were housed in apples.

It's a lovely clock, though. Friend must be proud to have it.
