I never did figure out the maker on this card file.

I thought I'd just run it by you guys... maybe @verybrad or @James Conrad will know? :) It has nice copper hardware inside.

    Edit: Approximately 13 x 12.5 x 5 inches

Not A Clue but, I would guess Komo is correct, 1950s card filer.
Brad is in Illinois so maybe would know more.

Maybe Writing & Stationery Co.? I'm just making it up based on fragment & nature of item. :)
Edit: Well, not Writing, looks like __NTING.

Looks like it might read Printing and Stationary Co. May be a retailer's label or totally unrelated to the file box.

That makes more sense, although it would be Stationery, if you're searching the Internet.

How old do you think, @verybrad

I thought the tiger oak and patina would put it earlier than 50s, when metal file equipment was big.

Below file is labeled "library bureau sale makers," and manufactured by them until 1927, when Remington took over.

All that to say, I know wooden card files and office equipment can be very generic and hard to date.

    Of course :)

Way older than the 50's imho ..at least the 1920's

plus there's a heckuva lot of *ville places in Illinois!

I've had it for a while and looked hard for the label before. There were only about 4 out there, none with the copper or dovetailing.

There are so many more to compare to (and compete with) :(

Thought I'd give the label angle one last shot :)

@scoutshouse Well if you're going to go after the label again, make sure you do the "e" not the "a" as @Bronwen pointed out!

I think circa 1920 is a pretty good bet but probably made the same way for decades. Label style is consistent with an early 20th century date.

    Thanks, @James Conrad

Like i said, there are sooooo many out there. Pleasantly surprised how many have sold. If they cant ID the maker they'll just say "Antique," and leave it at that.

I notice the reasonably priced items have HEFTY shipping costs, so clearly sellers are seeing $$.
