I've gotten around to actually photographing some of my pieces for ebay, and this tested positive for bakelite! (warm water and baking soda on a qtip, nice and brown straight away) Not bad for 3 euros!

I'm trying to get the color term right though, its a bit of a mix of honey, caramel, and amber. Its hard to photograph, but the color is most accurate in the second pic.

    Thank you!

I believe bakelite collectors call it caramel bakelite.
    Carneool or cornalijn in Dutch.:playful:

My understanding is that the true source of the name of the mineral is the name of the cherries, but in the US a false etymology developed that the root is the same as that of carnivore, flesh.

Perfectly fine to list a few color descriptors in the title, for example caramel/butterscotch/orange ... I don't know if there is a specific color key word for something like this that people would specifically search but that will give buyers an idea.

Definitely add the descriptor: swirls in the title (If I'm seeing swirls correctly).

You might want a photo that doesn't show the reflection of what appears to be an overhead ceiling light. It almost looks like there are holes in all the beads. Or at least point out that this is a reflection.

Make sure buyers can see easily the clasp. Maybe a photo with it open as well. Shows this is an older piece.

When I'm selling Bakelite on Ebay where I did a test, I include a photo with the result of the Bakelite test with the Qtip. Not essential, but can't hurt.

Lastly, if you have a gram scale, weigh it. I've been selling almost all my RECENT Bakelite sales of necklaces to what seems like countries Middle East, etc. I don't ship internationally, but the names of the people buying have all had a Middle East sound in the last year, guessing that a lot of Bakelite going there. And for those sales, the weight has been important.

Definitely a good buy at 3 Euros.

I'd say butterscotch swirl. Using amber, even if it's accurate, is an invitation for problems. I'd avoid it. I WOULD use the word "tested" in the title, to avoid amber hunters. They're looking for unheralded amber for cheap, so heading them off at the pass is a good idea.

Thank you all! I've added a few descriptors, and taken all of Lucille's points as well! I had already added the photo of the Qtip and weighed it (68g), the other photos show the clasp, but I did add the note about the reflection and also put swirl in the title! I have avoided Amber terminology and will add tested Evelyb! Thank you all for your replies!
