Need help with beautiful old pitch pine frame with photograph.
    A) Frame: How old? See 4th photo showing added strength with dovetail joint. Approximate age?
    B) Where is the room the photo was taken in? Is it a famous place? Any guesses?

    Frame measures 15" x 13-1/4"
    Photo measures 5-3/4" x 7"

Thanks again for the use of your brains!

The photo looks like the Art Gallery in Lyndhurst, the Gould estate in Tarrytown, NY......................but then again, most go the Gilded Age "home" art galleries looked like this.............but the screen and the opposing doorways/arches look spot on for Lyndhurst.

I retract what I wrote about Lyndhurst - I just looked at your photo again and I recall that the gallery at Lyndhurst is much wider and the door in the screen (at the end of the room) has a central arch, not off to the side.

SORRY if I steered you wrong.............my memory works, but it is like my PC - it just takes a few hours for things to load completely..............

PS In my defense, its been 50 years since I have been to Lyndhurst..............

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Is there a signature or some writing below the bottom right edge of the photo? Is the white area a separate mat, or is the photo printed on the white paper?

Not sure if knowing these things will help but it's something to go on.

That's a modern backing. Why don't you just remove and see if anything under?
