    Hi, any ideas on this pitcher or ever?

    French slipware. known as barbotine.

    Gee, I thought Barbotine had big applied flowers and such.

    Ty so much, everyone here is so knowledgable!!! The numbers on the bottom look old, any idea of the age?

    hard to give an age. from the form - handle etc. - and the colors 1890s 1920s.
    at the end of all pictures of the individual brands you have pics of the markings.

    you may be right. after looking around I had the same feeling that it may not be what I thought. if memory serves right we had that case already in another discussion.

    Oh, definitely don't go by what people say in a listing. They may have meant 1870!

    Not really any help but I found this little 5 1/2" vase in my collection that looks similar to your pitcher. I've found most pieces like this are labeled for sale as majolica but whether it really is true majolica or not I cannot say.

    my brain seems to need enormous amounts of coffee at the moment. this morning I remembered only about that Staffordshire stuff after five mugs. but it's also a bit due conditioning - when I see this then BAM barbotine. a bit like the Anglo-Saxons they see something carved in wood - BAM - Black Forest.
