I got these yesterday at a barn sale. I didn't even look at them until I was leaving, because I assumed they were repros.
Then I picked up a saucer, and realized they are old.
How old? I know Ernst Bohne & Sohne from Germany made some similar in the late 19th century, but these aren't marked.
Please forgive my crummy photos and help if you can.
    Any comments welcome.
Most pieces have small chips, except for the intact footed dish, and the skull cup and saucer in the first photo.

Until you find out there is such thing as a skull appreciation society blog.

    https://skullappreciationsociety.com/blog/skull-tea-set/

The only similar thing I can find is pinned all over Pinterest by different people, but leads to a dead eBay auction link, but the skull appreciation society has a synopsis of the auction details/description.
It was a whole tea set, teapot, sugar, creamer, cups, saucers. The cups have handles, but the saucers look identical.

    I don't think so.
Darn there was a picture of the bottom of the teapot which sold on eBay on Pinterest and I lost it. But it was unsigned and finished in exactly the same way as the bottom picture you show of your cup.

What a great find. Most of the stuff at the sale I went to this weekend was from the Dollar Store!

    Thanks for that link Laura.

I'm pretty excited NewEngland. I don't usually go to yard sales, but I knew they had tons of antique books, so that's why I went.

AND: Very often, pieces made by Bohne have no basemarks whatsoever, but the factory did use three distinct marks on some of their steins. The one found most often is a small anchor with the initials EB on either side of the anchor . The B in middle of anchor is of the older variety .

The only thing on the bottom of any of my pieces is a small black number 3 on the bottom of one saucer.

What would you call the little bowl perched on top of the skull and crossbones?

Is it the right size to be an individual nut dish?

It would be a good size for a nut dish.
Way too small for an ice cream dish. :hilarious:
