Nothing particularly amazing here, but here are my four general service whistles. Most people call these 'police whistles'.

L-R: (1) Modern 'Metropolitan' whistle, manufactured by the Joseph Hudson ACME company. A souvenir from a trip to London.

    (2) "The EMCA City Whistle (Made in England)". Manufactured by the Joseph Hudson ACME company. Ca. 1922. (EMCA = ACME backwards).

    (3) German-made whistle which I think was probably used for scouting or something of that nature. Unsure of date. Ca. 1920s I think.

    (4) "The City Whistle (Patent)". Made by Alfred DeCourcey. Ca. 1915.

All whistles are made the same - nickel-plated brass.

Nice whistles! Awhile back I was trying to research an old whistle (?) and stumbled on a Whistle Museum website. It looks like it's not being updated but still pretty interesting.

Here is why I went there in the first place.

I have an ACME somewhere in the attic, it was part of my accoutrements (Baton, Cuffs, Whistle) before becoming obsolete.:D

I remember the whistle museum website. Pity it went offline.

I finally got a clasp and chain for the newest whistle (the EMCA from the 1920s).

Hell, if I hung all these things up and put them outside, I could turn them into a wind-chime...

These are real police-whistles, as used by the bobbies back in the old days. And they worked wonderfully, once I'd cleaned out all the gunk inside and given them a polish.
