A friend has this for sale in her booth at the flea market and no one can figure out what it is. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for any help

Would have thought wash tub bench but the differential heights on the legs doesn't make much sense. Suppose it could still be if designed for a specially shaped tub. Would allow for ease of access at the front.

Same here. Purpose built to hold a wash tub off the ground, maybe?

Well the top (bottom?) is the most worn so something was definitely placed or slid across it for some reason. My wife said looks like something used in a barn for throwing a bale of hay on to keep it off the ground for feeding animals but I say it is too short as feed bales are usually 36" long.

or it slid across the ground while being moved...................;););)

that's why the edges are rounded from wear..........

That seems feasible - plus it was dragged to and fro as both ends are worn rounded! Perhaps a home made sled to be pulled by a tractor? Littler kid up front holding onto the smaller legs and bigger kid behind? Obviously having some kind of cushioning device on the 3 slats. Love coming up with ideas and solutions that will never uncover the real reason!

ohh...but every thought here gets mulled over by many others......and sometimes leads to a correct attribution. !

for all i know , you could flip it upside down and it would do a good job of holding 12 to 18 inch logs ....

    Thanks for all the suggestions!

I don't think it's a log holder, it is very small for that, the legs are short and being uneven doesn't make sense.

If it was slid on the ground I would think the markings would be completely worn off?

Overall it really is quite small, think the size of a small roasting pan :)

    Hi,
I wonder if you added a cushion it could be used a gout support. Perhaps in the rural area of the country.

That's a thought, the size is good for that.
