Old Writing help!

    One other possibility that occurred to me is that the writer attempted to spell what he/she heard (well perhaps except for ‘Chester’), and the recipient’s name might start with ‘Der..’ or ‘Dur...’ The writer might then be saying ‘Der...’ out loud as he/she tried to spell it and interpreted the sound as ‘Dr...’ The same thing could be happening at the end of Sallie’s name, so it could be something like Derviner...or Durviner...or Dervinor...or....
