older wool shawl

    I bought this about 2 weeks ago, it has that vintage musty smell, no labels anywhere.

    Anybody know where it was made or called era etc. ?

    It's not a "shawl." Shawls don't have buttons. It's a cape-type coat with the scarf attached. Is it open at the sides going down from the arm holes or sewn?

    Oh yeah, I forgot it's not a shawl, oops. It is open on the sides and that smell is pretty stong

    This is a style that was worn in a number of eras. Given fabric, I'd think 1970s. Here's something similar (with open arms) from the 1970s, made in México. Yours may be from there too.

    I agree, Mexican. I remember those. I was in Mexico in the early 70s in winter, and living in sunny Sydney, I didn't have any real winter clothes. This was one of the things I looked at, but ended up buying something warmer.
