    What is this called? I guess it is lacquered.

    The inscription is simply 一帆風順 "Smooth Sailing."

    The boat is a water buffalo horn.

    It's a whosagizzie, roughly translated as "sits around collects dust". My guess would be better grade tourist souvenir. I've seen smaller ones a few times, but not one that size.

    There arent holes at the end ? I thought I saw one in the seat and in the bottom.Where I think a cord might have gone.

    Just looked at it again. I think its more for decoration. I think any hardware would be in the way.
