Could anyone help identify this box, please. It's heavy, 11cm diameter, with a copper coloured outer except for the dragon himself, which is dull silver. The inside and the base are silvered and there is mark of a letter R or A in a lozenge to the base. Any information would be great. Thanks

Usually these boxes are base metal with a sivered/copper covering.

These Japanese boxes were produced from the 1910's through to the 1960's -70's. The antimony alloy material is known in the trade as "Japanese soft-metal". Other objects are produced in this material, such as picture frames.
Usually the finish is thin silver plating, but examples also exist in copper and bronze.

Here's an early (very worn) one of mine from the 1920's.

I love the box, Wendy, it is nicely made. I'm with the others on the origin and material. The shape is a cherry or prunus blossom, very popular in Japan.
